Perimenopause and Menopause, Explained | SECONDSPRING®
For women 35+

You can still be deciding about hormones. This part doesn't have to wait.

Whether you choose menopausal hormone therapy (MHT), decide against it or are still figuring it out, your muscle, bone and skin need support now. This page explains what is changing, in plain language, before it asks you to consider the product.

About 10 minutes to read. The product is further down, and it will wait.

Name it

Twelve things. Two minutes.

Count how many sound familiar over the last six months. Look for a pattern, not one bad week. Nothing here is stored, sent or collected.

0of twelve

Start tapping.

Count what has been true over the last six months, not what is true today.

A checklist isn't a diagnosis. It's a record.

Whatever your number, this cannot tell you whether perimenopause or something else is responsible. A qualified healthcare professional can assess your symptoms, age, cycle history, medicines and other possible causes.

What the number can do is make the conversation more specific. Instead of only saying “I feel off,” you can describe which changes you noticed, when they began and how they affect daily life.

Bring the pattern, not a self-diagnosis. It gives you a clearer place to begin.

The hormone decision is yours. But it is not the only lever you have. It is just the loudest one.

One transition, several systems

One hormonal transition can show up in more than one place.

Some of the changes women report in midlife can share a hormonal context. That does not mean every symptom has one cause or that new and persistent changes should be self-diagnosed.

The shared context

Declining, fluctuating estrogen

Not always a steady fade, but a transition that can fluctuate across years. Oestrogen acts in tissues beyond the reproductive system, helping explain why the experience can feel broader than a changing cycle.

Which explains

Why one answer may not be enough

Symptoms, health history and priorities differ. Useful support may include clinical care, movement, nutrition, sleep strategies and other choices, not a single universal fix.

Here's why

How long this actually lasts.

Most women picture menopause as an event somewhere around fifty. The reality is longer, earlier and much less tidy than that.

Earlier than expected
Some women notice changes before the age they associated with menopause. At younger ages, assessment matters because other causes should also be considered.
Perimenopause
Cycles start moving: shorter, longer, skipping. Almost everything on the checklist above lives here, not after.
Can last several years
Menopause
A single day, defined backwards: twelve months after your last period. It is a marker on a calendar, not a phase.
Postmenopause
The rest of your life. Bone loss is fastest in the years just after the marker, and protein needs don't fall.
Menopause is one point in a longer transition. Perimenopause begins when signs of the transition are first observed and ends one year after the final menstrual period. Timing and duration vary.

This matters more than it sounds. If you believe menopause happens at fifty, then everything happening at forty-two gets filed as stress, ageing, or personal failure. The gap between when it starts and when women are told it starts is the single biggest reason it goes unnamed.

It's also why "wait it out" is bad advice. You're not waiting out a bad month. You're living in a stretch of years during which what your body needs is genuinely different, and the choices you make in it compound.

Midlife nutrition is not about eating as little as possible. It is about supporting the strength you want to keep.

The arithmetic

Protein deserves more attention in midlife, not less.

Ageing and the menopause transition can make maintaining muscle and bone health a more important part of the conversation. Protein contributes to the maintenance of muscle mass and normal bones as part of a balanced diet.

Your appropriate daily amount is personal. Body size, food intake, activity, health conditions and goals all matter, which is why a universal target on a marketing page would be less useful than guidance tailored to you.

You can meet your needs with food, and real meals should remain the foundation. The practical difficulty is consistency: planning, shopping, cooking and repeating it on the days when time and appetite do not cooperate.

That is the honest competition. Not another supplement, but the everyday effort required to keep a useful habit going.

Why we made it
"She was getting her strength back from illness. Nothing on the shelf was made for her."

I'd taken whey protein for years, so I gave her mine. But it wasn't made for her. The taste, the texture and the whole design were built for someone else.

So I made one for her, built around what a woman actually needs to rebuild her strength at this stage, not what works for a 25-year-old at the gym.

One drink, not a cabinet

What you'd otherwise buy separately.

To match one sachet you'd buy a protein, a separate collagen and a handful of vitamins: three purchases, three routines, none guaranteed to be dosed for this stage.

Why it costs what it costs

Premium isn't a word here. It's a list of decisions.

Everything that goes into one sachet, and what the multi-box pricing is designed to reward.

USA-sourced whey protein isolate

A high-purity protein source selected as the foundation of the finished 0g-fat, 0g-sugar formula.

2.5g German VERISOL® collagen

A licensed, clinically studied ingredient at a real studied daily amount, not generic collagen added for the label.

Seven nutrients, deliberately dosed

Each vitamin and mineral chosen and measured for women at this stage, not a random sprinkle.

Every batch third-party tested

Independently checked by International Labs, so what is on the label is what is in the sachet.

MTick® certified

An independent menopause-friendly certification signal, not a claim of medical effect. Link the current certification details here before publication.

The formula stays the same in every pack. The daily price falls as the number of boxes increases, down to ₱229 with the 28-day plan.

Questions, answered
₱229 a day is not cheap. What am I paying for?

You're right, it isn't. Here's the arithmetic honestly: 25g of total protein, built around USA-sourced whey isolate and including 2.5g of branded German VERISOL®, plus 100% RNI of vitamins C, D3 and B12 in a single-serve sachet, independently tested and MTick® certified.

Read it per day rather than per box, and compare it to the three products it replaces rather than to the cheapest tub on the shelf. Your first box is risk-free either way.

I'm using MHT. Or I'm not. Does that change anything here?

SecondSpring is nutrition, not hormone therapy, and it is not intended to replace MHT or determine whether MHT is right for you. If you use MHT or any other medication, ask a qualified healthcare professional to review the ingredients and advise whether the product is suitable for you.

How long before I know if it's doing anything?

One fact is immediate: each sachet adds 25g total protein to your day without changing a meal. Individual outcomes vary, and we will not promise a timetable. The cited VERISOL® research studied the ingredient over eight weeks; it does not guarantee the same result from the finished product.*

Can I take this if I'm still having regular periods?

Perimenopause occurs while cycles may still be happening. Product suitability depends on the complete ingredient and allergen information, your health and any medicines you use, not whether your periods have stopped. Ask a qualified healthcare professional if you are uncertain.

Will this help me lose weight?

That's not what it's for, and we'd rather say so than let you assume. It's 102 calories with 25g of protein, so it's useful in a day if protein is what you're short of. But this is a brand built around holding muscle and supporting bone through midlife, not around getting smaller.

Why not just take collagen on its own?

Because collagen is not a complete protein, and what your muscle mass is asking for at this stage is complete protein, in quantity. Most collagen products give you collagen and nothing else. Most protein powders don't include collagen. This sachet is both.*

Do I have to subscribe?

No. There's no subscription on any pack and nothing to cancel. You buy a box, or four, and that's the end of the transaction until you decide otherwise.
